Review: Dance
NEW YORK – Mohawk high-steel workers were honored here recently in a dance/theater piece called “Eagle Spirit.” Because the ironworkers walk through a space which belongs to feathered beings, the program’s theme was affinity with eagles.

CHICAGO – Mrs. Mamie Till Mobley, mother of lynching victim Emmett Till, died here Jan. 6, at age 81. She was a quiet, unassuming and deeply religious fighter for civil rights. Her funeral was attended by national figures such as Dick Gregory and Rev. Jesse Jackson.

Brother Rex Waldron, known to all as “Auggie,” died on Dec. 5, from stress-related conditions. He was 49.
A lifelong resident of Lorrain, Ohio, Auggie was a much loved and respected leader of the United Steelworkers of America (USWA).

JACKSON, Miss. – The annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day march here received an infusion of energy when more than 100 participants from the AFL-CIO Martin Luther King Holiday Conference joined the parade. Linda Chavez-Thompson, AFL-CIO executive vice president, served as one of the parade’s grand marshals.
