People's Weekly World Newspaper, 09/13/07 17:41
Our appeal for donations to the People’s Weekly World/Nuestro Mundo fund drive was in your hands soon after Labor Day. Unfortunately, my letter to you was missing a page.
Our wonderful printers have promised to redo our mailing with the complete letter. But since many of you have contacted our offices concerned about the mistake, the editorial board thought we should reprint the missing third page below. After all, that was the page where I actually asked you to make a donation! (Note to self: next letter put donation request in third paragraph.)
I once heard a newspaper reporter make the following observation: “Doctors bury their mistakes, we publish ours.”
But this part is no mistake — donate to the People’s Weekly World/Nuestro Mundo — and help us raise the $200,000 goal. Every reader and supporter can help keep our unique media going.
An urgent message from the editor
You can help drive this newspaper forward and help widen its reach and deepen its coverage by contributing to the PWW annual fund drive.
Your dollars are vital. We receive no corporate money. We are reader supported.
Register your commitment to the working-class press by making your biggest possible donation to our 2007 fund drive. Your donation of $500, $250, $100, $50 or what you can afford will keep the People’s Weekly World/Nuestro Mundo going and growing.
We need your donation of $500, $250, $100, $50 or whatever you can contribute to build and strengthen this voice – your voice – for profound social change.
Don’t delay. It will be the best investment you can make. Click here to make your donation now www.pww.org/support.
In solidarity and struggle,
Teresa Albano, editor
P.S. For a donation of $500 or more you will get a special gift. It’s a new Smithsonian Folkways CD of Paul Robeson’s independent recordings. That’s right. The Smithsonian chose Robeson for its inaugural African American history series. And this CD, complete with a photo booklet, will be yours with a $500 donation.
P.P.S. Just some things your donation will do:
• send reporters to places where the news is being made,
• guarantee the PWW gets out more widely despite rising postal rates and other costs,
• expand our reach on the Internet.
