China Study Group discusses contemporary China, focusing on politics & economic development. Readings from important Western sources, but also from the Chinese & Asian press (in English translation). It is important to understand more about China, not only because it is a huge, rapidly developing country, but also because the Chinese Communist Party has created a historically unprecedented development process combining socialist & capitalist sectors. Discussing the dynamics of the mixed economy is a big part of the fun. At Center for Marxist Education, 550 Mass Ave, Second Floor. Info: (617) 354-2876, www.center-for-marxist-education.com.
