LOUISVILLE, Ky. – More than 600 residents of the city and surrounding area have placed a paid advertisement in the Louisville Courier-Journal calling on elected officials and policy-makers to “end the violence and war” and “not spread the war into other countries.”
The advertisement, which cost over $,4000, appeared Dec. 12 and was paid for by the signers and other peace supporters. It places those who signed it in “opposition to the violent USA interventions in Afghanistan and throughout the world” and urges that the war not spread “into other countries, and to use nonviolent and diplomatic means to establish justice and peaceful international relations.” This is one of the first peace advertisements to appear in a major metropolitan daily newspaper. The Lousiville group can be contacted via e-mail at pcunity@yahoo.com.
