Palestine film festival in Chicago

Seven films focusing on the Palestinian experience, presented along with some of the directors, make up the 5th Annual Chicago Palestine Film Festival (CPFF) at the Gene Siskel Film Center May 6-24.

Last year, CPFF premiered “The Wall,” a film about the construction by the Israeli government of a 400-mile wall for its stated purpose of separating Jews from Palestinians. Watching that movie you would think the wall has more to do with the Israelis imprisoning themselves, because the film showed us Palestinian workers crossing the wall even as the head of the Israeli Defense Forces explained that no one would get through it. It was definitely inconvenient, but people were getting through nonetheless.

It seems like déjà vu all over again now with U.S. extreme reactionary demands to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.
