"On the 6" (WORK) - Jennifer Lopez

The combination of an actor and a song hasn't always been successful. Remember "Star Trek" star William Shatner and "Proud Mary"? No? Consider yourself lucky.

But it looks like there isn't anything Jennifer Lopez can't do.

Her new CD, "On the 6," showcases a good voice and some great tracks. Her first single, "If You Had My Love," is already on the charts. Others, like "Waiting for Tonight" and "Open Off My Love" are just begging to hit club playlists.

While somewhat overproduced, the CD blends hip-hop and Latin sounds and Lopez sings in English and Spanish. One of the tracks is a duet in Spanish with Latin superstar Marc Anthony.

Other famous names on the project include producers Rodney Jerkins, Sean "Puffy" Combs, and Emilio Estefan.

The ballads are weaker than the uptempo songs. Lopez has a good voice but it sounds thinner on the slow tracks, as if she's trying too hard. On the faster songs, it sounds like she's forgetting to try and is just getting carried away by the beat and her own enthusiasm.
