Another site for peace

Special to the World

On Oct. 8 the Communist Party USA (CPUSA) will launch its revamped web site. "We are launching a state-of-the-art site ahead of schedule. We stepped up the production because we want to help mobilize for peaceful solutions and time is of the essence," said CPUSA Webmaster Heather Witham.

The Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and the current war danger have made united mass action for peace more urgent.

Noel Rabinowitz, coordinator of the CPUSA Internet Department, said that the new CPUSA web site will be a powerful tool for peace and justice struggles.

"The strength of the new site is the contributions of activists and collectives of the Party and our coalition partners," he said. "The web and e-mail tools are vital for a peace movement currently caught in the crossfire between right-wing terrorists and our own right-wing government."

It's an attempt to use technology to get technology out of activists' way, according to Pete St. Marie, the CPUSA information systems engineer. "We want the site to be a channel for the already deepening dialogue between the Party and the people of our country." He also noted that the new site will allow for articles to be "posted to the public much more quickly than before.

"We're asking that people check out the launch of the new site at www.cpusa.org," said Rabinowitz. "Your feedback will help make it more useful."

In the coming weeks, similar renovations will be in store for the web sites of the People's Weekly World, Political Affairs and the Young Communist League USA. If you want to help contribute to these efforts, please contact Noel Rabinowitz by e-mail at nrabinowitz@cpusa.org.
